HOW
FLOWGATE
WORKS

A self-clearing aeration and gas-liquid mixing platform built for fluids that clog, foul, or overwhelm conventional systems.

FlowGate combines a proprietary multi-channel nozzle, a Churn Chamber, and a large-diameter air inlet to deliver powerful oxygen transfer, vigorous mixing, and reliable operation in demanding fluid systems.

SELF-CLEARING DESIGN

Channel geometry promotes exchange while resisting clogging, fouling, and debris buildup.

Large-diameter FlowGate air inlet for low-backpressure airflow

AIR INLET

Large-diameter, low-backpressure inlet maintains reliable gas delivery in harsh, high-solids environments.

CHURN CHAMBER

Creates vigorous gas–liquid churning that keeps solids suspended and enhances oxygen transfer.

THE OPERATING PRINCIPLE

Air Enters

Gas is delivered into the lower chamber through a large diameter inlet

Churn Forms

A vigorous internal churn regime forms inside the chamber

Bidirectional Exchange

Gas-loaded liquid ejects outward while surrounding fluid refills through self-clearing channel paths

Vessel-Scale

Mixing

The repeated exchange drives oxygen transfer, solids suspension, and tank circulation.

EFFICIENCY ADVANTAGE

LOW-PRESSURE, HIGH-VOLUME AIRFLOW

FlowGate is designed to move large volumes of air at low operating pressure. When properly configured, the aerator creates negative dynamic wet pressure relative to static hydrostatic head, reducing the backpressure felt by the blower once the system is running.

This allows more blower energy to drive useful gas–liquid contact, circulation, and mixing instead of being lost to diffuser restriction, fouling, and heat.

Regenerative blower supplying low-pressure high-volume airflow to FlowGate
  • High-volume blower operation

  • Reduced blower backpressure

  • More energy driving circulation and mixing

Technical note: The amount of pressure reduction varies with nozzle size, channel geometry, airflow, depth, churn chamber configuration, viscosity, solids loading, and installation layout. Because this pressure drop affects fluid levels and transfer behaviour, FlowGate systems are configured around it during design.

WHY FLOWGATE IS DIFFERENT

FlowGate design without delicate fine-pore diffusers

NO DELICATE FINE-PORE DIFFUSERS

Engineered channels resist clogging and perform in conditions that foul other systems.

FlowGate aeration with no moving parts inside the vessel

NO MOVING PARTS INSIDE THE VESSEL

Fewer failure points and less maintenance. Built for continuous operation.

BUILT FOR DIRTY, FIBEROUS, HIGH SOLIDS FLUIDS

Designed for the harsh realities of wastewater, industrial, and organic process streams.

DESIGNED FOR RELIABILITY AND REAL-WORLD OPERATION

Simple by design. Proven by performance in the most challenging applications.

High-solids aerobic bioreactor used in developing FlowGate technology

DEVELOPED IN THE REAL WORLD

FlowGate emerged from years of work on high-solids aerobic bioreactors, where conventional diffusers, pumps, and screening approaches repeatedly clogged, fouled, or failed.

The result is a more robust aeration platform built from real operating problems—not theory alone.
